The NBA’s Eastern Conference has always been overlooked due to the very competitive Western Conference. But this year, there’s two teams who will be fighting to go to the NBA Finals: the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers.

During the 2019-20 free agency, the Brooklyn Nets acquired both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Durant sat out due to an injury in the finals the previous season, and Irving played limited games. The season was cut short due to COVID-19, so we didn’t get to see this duo play.

By the start of the 2020-21 season, we finally got to see the duo in action, and they didn’t disappoint. They were having big games and winning with ease, and this came even easier after adding yet another superstar, James Hadden, who has been in the MVP race for multiple years in a row.

At this point, people had already thought the Nets would win the finals, but they couldn’t get enough. They acquired Blake Griffin, who has been an all-star many times in his past and has even won a dunk contest.

But this definitely will not make the 76ers back down at all, as they have had a couple playoff runs that have been disappointing. In 2020, when the NBA restart happened due to COVID-19, the 76ers lost in the first round to the Boston Celtics. This wasn’t the type of year they wanted, especially after making it to the Eastern Conference finals in 2019.

They lost to the Toronto Raptors that year in a heartbreaking game 7 that came down to the last shot. Kawhi Leonard ended their season, and went on to win the NBA championship. This was devastating to all Philadelphia fans.

The 76ers have put together a pretty good team, with the leaders being Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris. These three have all been teammates since 2019, and have learned to play well with each other.

They have a bunch of other players who play their role, and do what they have to do. This includes players like Seth Curry, Matisse Thybulle, and Danny green.

Junior Brian Miller said, “The Nets will win it all. The 76ers won’t be able to stop them.” Brian is a 76ers fan and has no doubt that the Nets will win the championship.

Some other contenders in the Eastern Conference are the No. 3 Milwaukee Bucks, and No. 4 Atlanta Hawks. Milwaukee has all-star player Giannis Antentokounmpo, and he has carried them to the No. 3 seed as he does year in and year out. The Hawks come as a surprise to some, after being seeded No. 14 last year. Trae Young is a leader for this team despite it only being his third year in the NBA, and he’s going to do anything he can to go far in the playoffs.

The Eastern Conference will be up for grabs during the regular season, but experts and fans say that Brooklyn will be the ones in the finals. It’ll be very exciting to see.
