Panthers are hungry

The baseball team is eager for playoffs as they roll through the regular season

The Saucon Valley Panthers have been on a roll lately; although they just lost their two game season series to Notre Dame Green Pond, and most likely will be the number three seed in the Colonial League, they hope to make a run for it.

They undoubtedly have shown that they have the weapons and team chemistry to do it, exemplifying it during their 2-1 win over then undefeated Northwestern. It isn’t a question of whether they can hang with those teams, but a matter of playing smart and not allowing any mistakes.

Even with Northwestern having multiple Division 1 commits and many more to come, senior Austin Strunk was just too much for them as he hit his first home run, that in a two run walk-off bomb in the bottom of the seventh.

With Strunk being on a roll and having three home runs in his last five games, the Panthers look to keep the momentum going and glide into the Colonial League playoffs and show everybody what they’re made of.

On top of Strunk, they also have multiple threats at the mound and aren’t afraid to throw new pitchers in and see how things work. There is so much young talent at the mound and they have a solid three to four pitchers who can get the job done.

Even though the two losses to NDGP hurt them, they should still be ranked the 3rd team in the Colonial League playoffs and eventually have to beat Northwestern, NDGP, or both. But they know they can do it as they’ve proven it in the past.

They’re going to have to come up with a creative game plan to take down these teams and become victorious. If they play their cards right, who knows how far they’ll go and what they will accomplish.

Aside from leagues, they also have districts, where they could then prove themselves as they have two tough matchups in Northwestern and Becca. Whether or not they play them is a different story because of the way the seeding works out. The way it’s looking now is that they might have to play both of them but things are always subject to change.
