SV Baseball season (JV and Varsity)

April 18, 2023

This year both Baseball teams are off to an amazing start to the season… Lets take a look into the season! Varsity has a strong holding record of 10-2 and Junior Varsity also has a strong holding record of 6-3 (as of 4/25/2023). I had asked some questions to a JV player so let’s take a look at what he thinks the season will turn out! Second Baseman Frank DiRusso said that he thinks the “rest of their season will turn out good with no more losses.”

Both teams are off to a great season by putting in team effort and lots of hard work at practice and outside of practice. They also have kept up their hard work going into every game and pulling through with only very minimal losses on the start of their season. DiRusso also said that he thinks the strongest part of the JV team is the bats because everyone can hit 1 – 9. Varsity has some fantastic game scores and played very well during these game both infield and outfield to score the most points for that game. They have shown great outfield skills in order to keep the other team from scoring any point the whole game.

Coach Gary Laub’s efforts have certainly helped the baseball team over his 8th year as head coach at Saucon Valley High School. Coach Laub is very active in his coaching efforts as he can be seen on the sideline of the games cheering on his players. Coach Laub not only brings his motivational efforts to the team, but also his own talent. In fact, Coach Laub was inducted into the Northampton County Legion Hall of Fame back in 2017. For the 2023 season, Coach Laub states that Saucon’s strengths are the pitching staff and experience. His hopes are to once again contend in the Colonial League and District Playoffs.

Varsity senior players for the 2023 season include Jacob Albert, Liam Buck, Jacob Klotz, Tyler Pfizenmayer, Joshua Torres, Rocco Viscito and Ronald Werkheiser. The captains that plan on leading the team to District Playoffs are seniors Jake Albert, Rocco Viscito and Ronny Werkheiser. Good luck to the entire team on your 2023 season!
