NFL halftime shows have been going on since 1967, which was also the first ever SuperBowl. In halftime history there have been multiple people who performed more than once, including Bruno Mars, Gloria Estefan, Nelly, Justin Timberlake and the group called Nerd.
A few people have a different opinion on who their favorite or least favorite was.
“My favorite performance has to be Bruno Mars in 2014. He was very fun and entertaining to watch. Also he played some really good songs. My other favorites are probably Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Shakira/Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna,” said junior Riley Lannon about her favorite performances.
Junior Hayden Jebitsch also agreed with Lannon, “my number one for sure got to Shakira and J-Lo”.
Although these two agree with each other, other people feel different about the options on these performances.
“Jennifer López, I don’t like her music,” said junior Jack Robertson about López’s performance being his least favorite due to the lack of knowledge on her music.
With that, many popular artists that are currently becoming popular recently are being heavily requested to perform in the future halftime performances. Along with people wanting performers to come back again to preform.
“My favorite one I would want to see is probably another Rihanna one where she played some of her other songs she didn’t play last time or obviously Taylor Swift and maybe even Olivia Rodrigo. My top choice would probably have to be Taylor swift because she has so many good songs, followed by another Rihanna one, and the Olivia rodrigo”, said Lannon about who she wants to see preform.
With that, it is clear to see that the most popular genre to perform at the halftime show is either pop or rock. Many can’t wait to see what Usher will bring to the 2024 show.
