The winds of change are through the valley for the panthers. The Panthers will be welcoming a new head coach, Zach Petiet, this season.
After looking for Coach for quite some time, the Saucon Valley alumni stepped into the role. He played for Saucon through the 2015-2018 seasons and continued on his athletic career at Elizabethtown. With high hopes and eager anticipation, players, coaches, and fans alike are gearing up for a season filled with excitement, growth, and, hopefully, victories.
“We are all excited to be working with Coach Petiet, he’s a great addition to our program and I think his outlook on the game will enhance our team. Last year seasons didn’t go our way, but we are ready to get back after it,” said sophomore Ryan Keeney reflecting on the past season.
With a season record of 1-15 in the 2022-2023 season the boys faced lots of challenges as they played most EPC teams, since the colonial league doesn’t have lacrosse. A lot of players on the team want to grow together, both on the field and off.
“I’m looking forward to winning games and making memories,” stated sophomore Reinhard Brasko as he was asked what he was looking forward to. As with playing in a bigger league than they are used to, many athletes want to take it all in and enjoy the time they are able to play.
“Playing highschool lacrosse is definitely fun, it’s a challenge playing such big schools and not having that big of a team, or even a lot of guys coming out at all, but at the end of the day it will just prepare us more for our future,” said sophomore Joseph Peterson.
The Panthers are looking forward to this upcoming season, and everyone else should too. The team is hoping the student body comes out to cheer them on.
