MLB The Show 24 has officially been released; the early release came out on the 15th of March. The official release date for the game was March 19th. So far reviews have been good and everyone has been enjoying the game.
The main thing everyone wonders about right away, is who the live series collection reward is. This year, the reward is Babe Ruth, who is the best hitting card in the game and will be one of the best lefty pitchers the whole year.
Babe Ruth is a good reward because he has the ability to play both sides of baseball.
“Ruth is way better than Jeter was last year, I can get him later when it’s cheaper and still use him later in the season,” said sophomore Zachary Banonis. Last year, Jeter wasn’t similar because there were so many players just like him.
Another part that was highlighted by the community is the battle royale change. They changed the win streak from 12 to 10.
This change is better than it sounds. When getting 10 wins in a row, you get your valued win streak award that you could sell for a large amount of stubs. Previously it was 12 but this makes it a lot easier because once you’re already on a 10 or 12 game streak everyone your playing is pretty good and one loss could destroy your run.
Sophomore Tony Salgado was asked if this helped. “Yeah I haven’t been able to ever go 12-0 but I’ve gotten to 10 wins before so it makes it possible for me,” said Salgado.
The most and least hyped aspect are the new millionaire packs. Sounds great to become a millionaire in terms of stubs, but it’s not easy.
These packs are acquired in a few ways, whether you find a hidden one in a conquest or get it from xp in a program. The main reward is the chance at 1,000,000 stubs. Unfortunately, it’s a 1 in a million chance to get. The other rewards that are more common are packs, a player, or another very small chance at 75k stubs.
When junior Chris Hill was asked about what he’s gotten from the pack he commented, “I’ve only gotten to open a few so far and the best I’ve gotten is just packs.”
Ultimately, the new release is living up to the hype. There’s a lot of meaningful changes that people playing are definitely appreciating this first season of release. From the packs, to rewards, to new features on cards, this year’s MLB The Show offers plenty to be excited about.
