2024’s March madness has caused an influx of sports fans expressing their predictions and team favorites all around school and on social media. It is looking like an exciting matchup, who can we expect to see win it all?
Junior Andrew Gilbert is an avid sports fan “Yes I am going to watch the tournament, probably on my YouTube TV account. I’m rooting for Purdue and am hoping to see them win,” said Gilbert.
It seems as though students have a lot of loyalty for their favorite team, and would love to see them dominate the tournament. This is a realistic possibility for the Indiana team, as they are set to play in the first round against Utah State.
FOX61 writer Andrew Weil wrote, “The 68-team field for both tournaments will be revealed on Selection Sunday (March 17) and then it’s time for the games to begin.” Said Weil.
The 68-team bracket will be chosen this Sunday by the selection committee and ranked based on their performance in the regular season and conference tournament. Their placements in the bracket will determine who plays who and could affect their performance in the tournament overall.
NCAA’s official website gave us this schedule so far:
- Selection Sunday: Sunday, March 17
- First Four: March 19-20
- First round: March 21-22
- Second round: March 23-24
- Sweet 16: March 28-29
- Elite Eight: March 30-31
- Final Four: Saturday, April 6 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

It looks like it is going to be an action-packed month so far, with some local teams in the running, such as the University of Pittsburgh. Many will start to fill in their brackets after Selection Sunday and follow the teams to the final two. We can expect exciting games and an even better time watching with family and friends.
