The first team that comes to mind is UConn; UConn has one of the best coaching staffs in the league. Dan Hurley has continued to take teams and make them elite. The Huskies won the National Championship in a game against Purdue last year to win their second in a row under him. They have a great roster and a lot of good players. They are currently ranked third in the country but I only expect them to get better.
The next team that comes to mind is Duke. With one of the best recruiting classes that Duke has ever seen, they are definitely a dangerous team. This year they brought in the best player in the country in Cooper Flagg, but they also brought in great players like Kon Kneuppel and Isaiah Evans and have many good players from last year. They are currently ranked six but by the end of the year, I expect them to be the highest or one of the highest ranked teams in the country.
Another team that I expect to have a great season is the Kansas Jayhawks, they have recently been coming up short, but I believe that this could possibly be their year to make a run. Senior Hunter Dickerson has been one of the best players in college basketball and is currently averaging 20 points a game. They also have many other key pieces like Zeke Mayo and AJ Storr. They do have tough games coming up against teams like Duke and Creighton. These games will show us if they can be one of the best teams in the league or if it’s just another one of those years. They are currently ranked number 1 in the country, but I do expect them to drop a little.
The final team I think that could make it far this year is the Alabama Crimson Tide; they are a similar case to the Jayhawks. The last couple of years they just couldn’t seem to get it done but always got close. They have great veterans like Grant Nelson and Mark Sears but also have good freshmen like Aden Holloway, who is averaging about 6 points. The Crimson Tide is currently ranked at number three in the country, and I expect them to stay in that spot.
In conclusion, it is hard to predict who will win the National Championship because there are so many teams and upsets each year. However, we can take our best guesses and evaluate what teams are currently on top.
