Let’s start with who’s moving around as far as teams next season. Carlos Sainz, a beloved racer from team Ferrari, is moving to Williams next year. He’s not ready to give up his winning days yet and is hungry for more podiums next season. In addition to racers moving teams, a new team will be added. Cadillac has signed a deal with Formula 1 to have a team in the mix. The racers are still to be announced and they are still being determined. Many have strong opinions of one racer who seems to be slowing down in wins as his age increases. Sergio Perez is well-known in the F1 community but has a bad start for next season. Many say he should retire since his record is getting worse and worse every season. Others agree that he should stay for another season or two. Perez believes that after his extended contract is up he’ll see what the team wants to do. Perez who’s on team Red Bull with Max Verstappen has been letting his partner take the lead on the last few races this past season. Perez has had many crashes and spin-outs this season and it’s not looking great for his place next season.
The race schedule is similar to the 2024 season but a few are switched. The schedule and important dates are on the official Formula 1 website. Now back to the important stuff.
This next season there will be a total of 5 new racers in the starting grid. To start, Oliver Bearman is guaranteed a spot on the starting grid after he stepped in Sainz in Saudi Arabia. The 19-year-old will be the 4th British driver on the grid. Another new driver is 18-year-old Andrea Kimi Antonelli. Anotnalli has been promoted after just one year of being an F2 driver. Also joining F1 is Australian driver Jack Doohan. If the last name sounded familiar it’s because he is the son of 5-time MotoGP world champion Mick Doohan. Finally, Gabriel Bortoleto, Brazilian F2 champion, has been signed by Sauber; who in 2026 will be becoming team Audi.
