On February 27, the content house, Sway LA, had a 72 hour reunion after ending in 2021.
The Sway house consisted of nine boys: Noah Beck, Kio Cyr, Blake Gray, Quinton Griggs, Bryce Hall, Jaden Hossler, Griffin Johnson, Anthony Reeves, and Josh Richards. They were all very close and spent the majority of their time creating content for their TikTok and other social media accounts. Fans adored their friendship.
Unfortunately, the house started to dwindle in members throughout 2020 as drama increased and other personal endeavors were pursued.
The threat of the TikTok ban at the beginning of this year pushed creators to post some of their old drafts. A couple of the Sway boys posted a few of theirs, which enabled them to reminisce and even comment on each other’s videos. This sparked Johnson’s idea of a Sway reunion.
Though it started out as a silly thought, it eventually came to fruition. The boys joined together in a house in LA, where all of their interactions were recorded for a livestream on the app, Kick.
The day of their reunion, the boys were teasing their arrivals on social media, since they were all showing up at different times. Sadly, the only member who did not attend was Beck, due to some modeling job he had in Milan. “I still believe this was a true Sway boys reunion. I feel that Noah may think he’s ’too big’ to be there now, ever since he’s pursued his acting career. I loved seeing them all reunite with no awkward tension, even after the many years they spent apart,” said fellow Sway fan and junior Mariyah Gombotsh.
The boys of course spent their days together doing activities and filming content for their fans. Anything from yoga to making pizza, they did it all. It was nice seeing them recreate some of their old popular videos and follow trends from today as well. “I think the best part of the reunion was them all playing games together and genuinely having a good time. You can tell the bonds are still there,” Gombotsh stated.
Things even got a little messy when Dixie D’Amelio showed up, who is known for her relationship with Johnson and Beck. There were also whispers about who else she’s been with from the content house, making her appearance all the more interesting. But the whole thing was funny; the boys filmed a video to her song “Be Happy,” and she and Johnson even filmed a video using the diss track that he made about her.
Fans enjoyed watching the livestream. Though there was well known drama between some of them, the air was very friendly and nostalgic. “The moment that would’ve healed my 2020 self is when Josh and Jaden made up. They both dated the same girl, had drama for years. During the stream they talked it out and my 2020 self would be proud,” Gombotsh said, recalling Richards’ and Hossler’s past friendship. My 2020 self was definitely beaming!
Overall, this was a monumental moment for all Sway fans. Who would’ve thought that they would put all of the drama aside and come together once more?
