Time management is something many students struggle with when it comes to school, clubs, sports, and activities. Fellow junior Kristen Lussier does all four in one day.
Lussier takes honors classes in school, is a part of Aevidum, Leo Club, Model UN, Student Government, Yearbook Committee, Debate, and more. She also does competitive dance, plays lacrosse in the spring, and plays field hockey in the fall.
“My usual schedule consists of going to school and then having an afterschool club every day. After that I go to lacrosse practice until 5:30, and most days have to go to rehearsal for the school musical right after. From there I leave rehearsal early, around 7:30, or stay until 8:30, and go to dance until 9 or 9:45. To end my day I get home and make my lunch, eat, shower, and do homework,” Lussier said.
Lussier explained that her most difficult activity is dance, “because it is definitely time consuming, but mastering certain skills and technique is also the hardest. Mentally too I would say it is the most difficult.”
Lussier has created a system to help her manage her time and plan her week.
“At the beginning of every week I plan out when I have events and activities for that week and plan out which activities I will need to leave early from and/or skip to be able to fit everything effectively. Also something that’s helped me is deleting TikTok so that not one second is wasted where I can be getting something done when I am not doing an activity,” Lussier said.
Lussier makes sure she is always doing something to make her productive and get what she needs to get done before spending her time on social media.
Lussier’s advice for someone with time management issues is, “to set timers for yourself when doing something so that you can’t get distracted and plan. Mapping things out ahead of time makes everything much less overwhelming when it is most important.”
