The theater department has just announced the upcoming musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. The musical is a comedy about a man listening to his favorite record and imagining the musical, while providing commentary and context to the audience, addressing them directly. The soundtrack is based on the music of the 1920’s, including jazz and tap numbers.
“I’m most looking forward to seeing the comedy aspect of the musical come alive, to have a lot of fun and to grow alongside the people I know. I’m also looking forward to tap dancing,” said sophomore Sarah Beers.
Theater is a way for students to busy themselves after school, as well as make new connections and creatively express themselves.
“Though our theater program is very small, we do the best that we can with what we’ve got. We’re all super supportive of each other, both cast and crew,” said senior Gabby Silva.
“I would obviously suggest that people either audition for the show or join the stage crew. It’s so much fun, you get to make more friends and you get to work hard on something, something that always turns out great in the end,” continued Silva.
Beers added “I mean it when I say it: we all become a family by the end. I think that aspect of theater will never cease to amaze me, and it certainly will always draw me to theater. Everyone supports and cares for each other.”
Auditions will be October 22 and 23. Anybody interested in joining, or if you have any questions, should contact Lex Donatelli at [email protected].
