Dear Abby: March

Dear Abby,

I am writing to you because I need advice on how to balance school, my job, and a social life. It feels as if there aren’t enough hours in the day for everything. Going to school takes up 7 hours, 5 hours for work, and in between that I like to maintain a social life while also doing school work and sleeping.

Sincerely,

Anxious in Saucon

Dear Anxious in Saucon,

I would suggest waking up a little extra early on school days. This is a great time to get ready, study, finish schoolwork, and prepare for the day. Utilize your school day to get as much work done in class so that once you leave, you have time for work and yourself. I would encourage working less during the week if you can, try to have 1-2 days open for yourself to spend with friends and family. You can also work early on weekend mornings, leaving the rest of the day to go out with friends. Remember that friends work too. Try not to overwhelm yourself with too many AP classes if you can, take the classes you feel confident in taking. I currently work every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings. I also work alternating Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. This leaves the weekend always open for me to go out or relax at home. I also have free time during the week to go to the gym, relax at home, or go out with friends/family.

Try your best not to pressure yourself too much with work, these are your final teenage years to go out and have fun. Stay hopeful and remember the summer is right around the corner! I wish you the best of luck with your scheduling.

Sincerely,

Abby
