Jane Eyre is a book that consists of drama, love, mystery, and so much more. Many readers have found this book to be anticipation filled. The book of Jane Eyre was set in the time period of the 1850s, in someplace in England. The author, Charlotte Brontë, wrote this book with messages of love, self-discovery, and independence.
From a young age, Jane has faced problems. Within a year of her birth, she was orphaned and left within the clutches of her neglectful aunt. After many years, Jane went to a school where she would develop into the woman the readers see throughout the story. Eight years after she joined the school, she was hired to become the governess of the supposed child of a mystery man. Within her time there, emotional and physical sparks fly. Where love is left, bodies are found.
The writing behind the book could be a story itself! Jane Eyre was published in 1847, under the name Currer Bell. Currer Bell is actually Charlotte Brontë’s pen name. During the time period of production, it was unusual for women to write. Brontë wrote under a pen name to increase the likelihood of her book being published. At the time, many publishers wouldn’t read any books written by women.
As a reader, I really loved this book. In the beginning, I wasn’t quite interested in the book, because it started off slow. However, a few chapters later, I couldn’t keep up with what was going on. The book had kept me on the edge of my seat. My favorite sections were later on in the book when Jane began to discover the wonders of the world.
It is noteworthy that this book is written in British-English, so it may be more difficult for some readers to comprehend. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy a complex book. It truly does take the reader on an adventure they may have never seen before.
