Nowadays, AI has begun to look too realistic and it’s getting scary. People have been using it for all the wrong reasons. When AI first became a thing, it looked too shaky. It was easy to tell if something was fake. Now, AI looks still and the motion in videos are smooth. But sometimes, it’s too smooth, and that’s why it’s still just barely recognizable because of the smoothness.
There has been an idea that if you have an AI video and post it online, you have to tell people that it’s AI. Our lawmakers should be discussing this and trying to get some of these AI apps banned. Some people have made this into a game however by posting videos on TikTok where two of the same videos are side by side and you try to tell which one is real.
Two good examples that prove AI is a lot more realistic now than it was two years ago are two videos. The first video was a video of Will Smith eating pasta that came out in 2023 that looked very distorted and shaky. There was no way that anyone would think that it was real. The second example on the other hand, is a video that came out in 2025. It was a video of some bunnies jumping on a trampoline and the footage looked so raw, no smoothness and no color saturation and yet, it was AI.
Where this stuff is used the most is on social media. It is the most seen on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc. This especially happens in ads that are being posted on these platforms. This makes the product seem more appealing. These AI images and videos on Facebook have been used to fool a lot of people who may not be well-versed in AI. But in general, there are plenty of AI videos that are simply there to make you believe that it’s real.
In conclusion, AI is getting too real and it’s starting to get out of hand. It’s about time that we start doing something about it otherwise it could get even more out of hand.
