Let’s face it, school lunch has its constant ups and downs. Some days providing what feels like the best meal experienced and some days it makes you wish you’d packed a nice home cooked meal. But which lunches reign supreme? Based on opinions of a select few students and teachers the ranking goes as follows.
9. General Tso’s Chicken
A popular asian-inspired dish that’s a nice change from your typical school provided lunch, bringing a tangy taste to the lunchroom, ranking 9th for although it’s well-liked asian cuisine isn’t for everyone.
8. Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese
A crossover of two comfort foods, garlic bread flavors with american cheese giving a similar taste and vibe of garlic cheesy bread you’d get from a typical pizza shop, ranking lower for its sudden disappearance from the menu.
7. Chicken and Waffles
A mixture of savory and sweet combine to bring a kick to the lunchroom, fluffy waffles with a contrasting crispy chicken and sugary sweetness of syrup to combine with it. Coming in at 7th although being a common favorite we have better lunchroom meals coming up.
6. Packed Lunch
Your choice of meal and snacks to go with it, this gives students a range of food choices and the ability to make their own. Ranking in higher as many students enjoy a packed lunch of their choosing.
5. French Toast
A sweet breakfast food for lunch, coming with sausage and hash browns that you can dip or dowse in sweet, sugary syrup. A popular choice and safe option, well like among students and teachers alike.
4. Pepperoni Pizza
Another safe choice amongst students, recently brought back after being replaced with buffalo chicken pizza is now served alongside it. Always served and a favorite among students it comes in at 4th place for its savory cheese and slightly sweet tomato sauce.
3. Bosco Sticks
A surprising 3rd we have bosco sticks, a soft, doughy bread filled with melty mozzarella cheese and a dusting of parmesan cheese on the outer side. Served with a savory sweet marinara sauce, similar to the classic mozzarella sticks.
2. Popcorn Chicken Bowl
Coming in 2nd place is popcorn chicken bowl. Chicken served upon warm mashed potatoes with optional toppings of corn, gravy, and shredded cheese. A warm, almost comforting meal that’ll keep you toasty in the coldest months. Well-liked among students and teachers, such as favorite teacher Mr. Gordon.
1. Walking Taco
An American take on Spanish cuisine, typically served with ground beef or the occasional option of pulled pork and optional toppings of lettuce, cheese, and a multitude of sauces to top it off. Ranking in 1st place for its variety and the popularity of Spanish foods, an exciting option to occur.
Ranking school lunches is a perfect and fun way to reminisce about our childhoods as seniors reach the end of their year. These meals may not have been gourmet but they’re a shared experience among students that connects us all, freshmen to seniors, even teachers.
