Band is one of the most important parts of a school’s spirit. It brings the school together and unites students of all backgrounds.
In Saucon Valley High School, the band is a way for students to collaborate and share their love of music with each other. Unfortunately, many people believe joining band isn’t the best option.
However, freshman Savannah Hazeltine states, “I would definitely say band is worth joining if you’re a person who likes music and likes creating music.”
Although the school’s band is missing members, they still perform exceptionally well.
“Recently, the marching band took home bronze…in the American conference, a class marching band competition. We’re most proud of the first place in the American division. We work really hard for it,” says freshman Emily Shoey.
Still, they try hard to recruit new members every year with many different auditions and signups.
Hazletine continues, “There are [many] important things going on in band right now. There’s jazz band auditions, indoor percussion ensemble, flute and clarinet choir, and the marching band season just ended.”
All in all, the band stands as a very important part of the school. Even though they may not have a lot of members, they still work very hard and love what they do.
