Stranger Things originated in November 2015, and students have been watching it since then. Siblings and friends have introduced it to each other, as well. It was a big thing on social media when it was initially released and continues to be so now. These are some of the main reasons why it gained so much popularity.
Freshman Kate Battoni shares, “My sister and her friends also seeing it online made me want to watch it.”
Viewers have many mixed emotions on the ending of the show because a character who was loved by many died but completed their mission.
Sophomore Anthony Albano states, “I liked the end, but it was also bitter sweet [since the show’s over].”
Freshman Connor Reilly says, “I thought the ending was sad because Eleven died.”
In Stranger Things, there are many characters. In the first season, Mike, Eleven, Will, Lucas and Dustin were the first characters introduced. They were all around the age of 12 this season.
Reilly continues, “My favorite character is Steve because he is selfless and protects his friends.”
Stranger Things has a total of five seasons with an episode finale. There has been a lot of controversy about producers making a secret episode—which would be the last. Eleven died in the end, but Mike has a theory that she made an illusion to escape. People think that this secret episode tells us that Eleven might be alive.
Battoni states, “I feel like they would [keep Eleven alive] because they have been working on the show for [too] long just to have it end so quickly.”
A lot of students have different opinions on the best season out of the five. The first season is the beginning of it all—it hooks you and makes you want to keep watching. The second season is about Will Beyers and the Mind Flayer, but it also introduces Max. The third season takes a sudden turn where many things happen. The fourth season is a comeback and brings the group back together after the third season. Finally, the fifth season is very nostalgic and a little sad to some because it is the end.
“I don’t really have a favorite season, but I really like two, three and [five] because they all have the best plot and are all about different ‘monsters’ or whatever you want to call them,” says Battoni.
“Season three was the best because [it was] released during the summer and the theme was very exciting and colorful,” says Albano.
Since the first season came out, the characters all obviously grew up and all got more mature—some even began to dating on the show. Many students think that the show has changed a lot since the first season.
“Everyone has grown up since the first season,” says freshman Elin Hughes.
“The show has changed a lot as everyone got older, and there are many new characters like delightful Derik, the greatest character ever besides Max,” finishes Albano.
Overall, this show has been around for a while and is very popular and nostalgic with a lot of emotions that come along with watching it. People of all ages watch this show, and it is highly recommended.
