Nicole Kish has worked at McDonald’s for about a year and a half, and has gained more knowledge than people that have been there longer than her.
People go there regularly, everyone knows about it, and they’ve served over 8 billion people, but what effort goes into making it happen?
How long have you worked at McDonald’s?
“I’ve been working at McDonald’s for almost two years, I’ve learned basically every position I’m practically the manager. I like knowing them all so I can be useful anywhere and that gets me more hours.”
What is your day like there?
“My day can go any number of ways depending on who the shift leader is and what the environment is like that day. Some days I’m more stressed out than others but that’s just how it is.”
What is the most stressful part of working there?
“The most stressful part would be when Human Resources or my supervisors come in and test the upkeep and cleanliness of the store. It feels like part of it is on me to be responsible for what the building looks like even though I’m not a manager. It feels like my every move is being watched and it’s very stressful.”
What is your favorite part of working there?
My favorite part about working there is the relationships I’ve built in the community that’s made there with my coworkers. I’ve grown to really appreciate some of them as people and feel that our friendships go farther than just working together”
What is your work ethic like?
“My work ethic is mainly to get the job done. Make sure people get their food and go on with their day. My work ethic also varies depending on the mood I’m in. I can be very productive or do the absolute bare minimum.”
While working at McDonald’s is typically a very easy and fun job, there is definitely a deeper level of what working there is like. Although some of these parts can be stressful and difficult, it can feel like being paid to have fun.
