Many important historical events happened in America. In 1776, the Declaration of Independence was made, marking the start of what’s now the world’s most powerful country. By 1789, the first U.S. President was elected: George Washington.
Then came expansion and division. In 1803, the Louisiana Purchase occurred. This was when America bought the Louisiana Territory for $15 million, which is now equivalent to $340-$430 million if accounting for inflation. This shows the start of America’s drive of wanting to expand.
Many wars happened like the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War from 1846-48 and the Civil War from 1861-65.
More recent events include both World Wars and the Great Depression.
In the Modern Era, many things happened—like the Cold War, Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War, 9/11 and the Digital Age.
Although America has faced many challenges, we pushed through to create what’s now the most powerful country in the world.
