Many athletes have a lot to say on balancing their athletics with maintaining their grades. Students dedicate their time to their studies but it’s not always easy for students who are athletes.
“I do get home late and still have to stay up late to do homework,” said freshman Lila Nansteel.
“On a school night, I get home around 5:15 when I have soccer practice and when I have away games around 7:30-9:30. Also, twice a week I get home at 10:30 because I have lacrosse practice,” added freshman Grace Donahue.
The high school always has the cafeteria open for athletes after school to get work done before they have practice or a game. Students spend most of their time there getting ready or getting their work done.
“I always use the time I have between school and practice to get some work done,” said Donahue.
Athletes normally have practice every day, which can be a struggle—especially when you have to study or have a lot of homework. Students try their best to go to different events like football games, pep rallies, trunk or treats etc., but sometimes athletes can’t because of practice and games.
“I have field hockey practice [pretty much] every day unless we have a game, but we are mostly off on the weekends,” said Nansteel.
Students dedicate their time to learning and, although it is hard for student athletes, Saucon makes it easier for students to balance their schedules.
